Ingredients

  • 2 tins of cannellini beans
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoons of smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons of mild chilli powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons of dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato puree
  • 200 grams of passata

Method

  1. Finely chop the onions and garlic
  2. Cook the onions and garlic in some olive oil on a low heat (6) for around 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally
  3. Meanwhile, mix the paprika, chilli powder, dried thyme, and sugar in a small bowl
  4. Once the onions have been cooking for 5-10 minutes, add the mixed herbs and spices, the tomato puree, and the soy sauce
  5. Stir well and cook on a low heat (5) for around 5 minutes
  6. Add the drained cannellini beans, mix well to coat them in the sauce, cook for a 2-3 minutes
  7. Add the passata, cook for 5 minutes to let the sauce thicken
  8. Enjoy on toast or savoury muffins!
