Fancy Baked Beans
Ingredients
- 2 tins of cannellini beans
- 1 onion
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 0.5 teaspoons of smoked paprika
- 0.5 teaspoons of mild chilli powder
- 0.5 teaspoons of dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of light soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of tomato puree
- 200 grams of passata
Method
- Finely chop the onions and garlic
- Cook the onions and garlic in some olive oil on a low heat (6) for around 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Meanwhile, mix the paprika, chilli powder, dried thyme, and sugar in a small bowl
- Once the onions have been cooking for 5-10 minutes, add the mixed herbs and spices, the tomato puree, and the soy sauce
- Stir well and cook on a low heat (5) for around 5 minutes
- Add the drained cannellini beans, mix well to coat them in the sauce, cook for a 2-3 minutes
- Add the passata, cook for 5 minutes to let the sauce thicken
- Enjoy on toast or savoury muffins!
